Listening to: Uzumaku - doaI'm currently infatuated with Gothic and Lolita fashion. Browsing the website for apparels to make-up. If my cousin could not find my black lipstick, I'm going to ask her help to buy online. My black lipstick T.T. I'm going buy fake eyelashes, start to power my face to get the pale porcelain look. Starting to buy clothes that are black. [going to get scolded by my mum. -.-"] If allowed, I'll definitely buy red contact lens.
The style of Gothic Lolita: An inspiration from the Rococo, Victorian-style and Edwardian fashion thataims to imitate the look of Victorian children or pocelain dolls. It is more to child-like and innocent looking. Colour combination is mostly black and white, often black with white lace and typically decorated with ribbons and lace trims. Skirts are knee length, and may have petticoat or crinoline to add volume. Over-knee socks and stockings are popluar among the mainstream Japanese fashion. For shoes, boots, rockinghorse shoes or Mary-Janes completed the look.
Also frilly, ruffled or lace-trimmed blouse are popular. Designs are modest, with long sleeve or sometimes high-neck collar. For accessories, mini top hats, bonnets and lace headdresses are also worn. Hair is curled with bangs reaching until the eyebrows, sometimes wigs or hair extension are worn.
Props like parasols, handbags, small backpack or purses go along with Lolita outfit, sometimes with the shape of coffins, bats and crucifixes. Somtimes, teddybears and super dollfies are carried around. Make up are muted, with pale complexion, black eyeliner and dark lips colour.
Gothic Lolita is another subtype of lolita fashion. Other subtypes include:
Amaloli (sweet lolita): Pastel colours like pinks, baby blues with white are commonly seen, with lots of laces and ruffles.
Classic lolita: A more mature type of lolita that focuses on Baroque and Rocaille styles. This look can be seen as the more sophisticated, mature Lolita style because of its use of small, intricate patterns, as well more muted colors on the fabric and in the overall design. Empire waist dresses are worn to create a more mature style, shoes and accessories are less wimsical and more functional. Make up is more muted with more emphasis on natural colouring. Slimmer silhouettes is another counterparts to add to the mature style.
Punk lolita: Adds punk fashion elemaents to Lolita fashion, like tattered skirt or blouse. Chains, safety pins, screen printed fabrics and plaids are added. Androgynous hairstyles are incorporated.
Waloli: Combination of Lolita and traditional Japanese clothing. It consists of kimono or hakama, motified to fit with Lolita garments. The shoes and accessories used in this style are typical of tradional Japanese garb including kanzashi flowers, and geta, zori, or Okobo. These shoes are often used in place of the normal Lolita platform and high-heeled shoes.
Qi Loli: Similar style to Waloli but uses Chinese clothing and accessories. This include qipao or cheongsam dresses modified to accomodate a petticoat.
Elagant Gothic Lolita/ Elegant Gothic Aristocrat: This two terms are coined by Mana, a guitarlist from ex-band, Malice Mizer. He created his own label Moi-même-Moitié and he is the one who widely popularize Gothic Lolita fashion.
